Calais Makes it Official

Though it had been reported on this site weeks ago and by several sources, Calais Campbell apparently never made it "official official" that he was entering the NFL draft. Well now its official.

This comes as no surprise to anyone around the team or anyone who follows NFL Draft coverage. A 6'8 280 pound DE with excellent speed is going to go in the first round. Period.

Calais may have struggled mightily this year versus double teams, particularly against the run. He also got thrown around like a rag doll by Oklahoma's massive offensive linemen. However, his measurables and still semi-respectable production will be enough to get him in the first round.

Seeing as how he has his degree and this team has no real hope of winning a title next year, there was no point in him sticking around. Honestly, though I really like the guy, he probably won't be missed that much. The depth at DE is really thin, but Calais' impact was minimal at times. Though he drew double teams, the rest of the team rarely capitalized off of them anyway.

Versus the run, Campbell would be completely taken out of plays at times by running too far up field. Worse, his techniques seem to have broken down from last season. Rather than use his length to his advantage or develop a spin or swim move, he constantly uses the bull rush and gets stood up because he is so tall.

That being said, I wish him the very best. He was a Cane through and through. I'll always remember seeing him walking around on campus with a big smile on his face and always trying to pump up the
crowd at the Orange Bowl. The flaws in his game for the most part can be fixed. I would designate him as a project for the NFL right now. If he develops correctly though, he could easily be one of the top 5 defensive ends in the game thanks to his natural abilities.

Canes Rebound vs Penn

I have to be honest. I was worried about this team after it's loss to Winthrop. Not that the team was overrated or anything like that, though a loss to Penn certainly would have raised those thoughts. But after riding the momentum of a 12-0 start, I was concerned that a loss vs maybe the best team they've faced all year might derail the Hurricanes' confidence. I was even more concerned that a lack of confidence would be reflected in their performance heading into ACC play.

So seeing them struggle in the first half versus a woeful Penn team unnerved me a bit. Thankfully, Frank Haith got his team focused and they pulled away in the 2nd half to coast to an easy 88-62 victory. It was just a small win versus a bad team, but regaining that confidence is key heading into the upcoming matchup vs Georgia Tech.

Of interest in this game was the decision to start Dwayne Collins over Jimmy Graham. Collins responded well with 18 and 12, his best game of the season. In addition, Brian Asbury continued his hot shooting from the 3 point line and added 22 points and 4 assists.

Jack McClinton had an average game and missed too many 3 pointers, but he has been a star for us this season. The good thing about these blowouts is that it provides the young guys a chance to grow into their roles on the court. Eddie Rios for one made use of his 17 minutes with 3 3's and 4 assists.

Overall, it was a positive result to the last nonconference game of the season. It might lead to another top 25 ranking (the Canes are 26th and 27th in the polls) if other teams lose. Sadly, the loss to Winthrop dropped Miami from 1st to 56th in the RPI poll.

A Little About the Blog...

State of Miami is a blog primarily covering Miami's sports teams and athletes past and present. However, I like to think of it as a general sports blog as well, so from time to time I'll post my thoughts on important issues on a national scale. I hope that the blog is of particular use to those who are Miami transplants or South Florida residents on extended business trips.

The name of the blog is a triple-meaning. It of course refers to the state of sports in Miami, and there is a regular editorial piece regarding this subject every now and then on the blog. Second, it refers to the unique characteristic of Miami in that it acts as it's own little world, unlike anywhere else in the US.

Finally, the name is an allusion to Howard Schnellenberger's famous quote about how he would take the University of Miami football team to the top: "We're going to build a fence around the State of Miami". He had a 5 year plan for the program, and little did anyone know that he would fulfill his promise in just 4.

If you are a frequent reader of the blog, expect to find my priorities to be centered around Hurricanes Football/Recruiting, and the Miami Dolphins and Miami Heat. However, I am as passionate as you guys about just about every sport down here, and I live and die with the success of our franchises. I hope you guys enjoy your visit to the blog, whether you are a subscriber or a one-time visitor. Feel free to comment on any post, or e-mail me with any questions, concerns, or tips.

Thanks,

Aldo

Heat Loses First Game of New Year

The spiral towards the bottom of the standings continues. Unfortunately, as the losses pile up, so do the injuries. Dwyane Wade was just getting into his game before colliding with a Buck defender and bruising his already sore right shoulder. This came after scoring 10 straight points for the Heat in the 3rd.

Without Wade for much of the 4th, the Heat didn't stand a chance and Milwaukee pulled away for a 103-98 win. Though he wasn't seriously injured in the collision, Dwyane nicked his hand a bit at the end.

Mark Blount started tonight in place of the injured Shaquille O'Neal, and had a decent first half. Ricky Davis had a very nice game with 23 points, though unless he plays like this every game, expect him to be on his way out at some point in the not too distant future.

Luke Jackson is god-awful. Somebody please send that guy back to Idaho. No offense to him, but he launched up several bricks and airballs when he would have been better off passing to a teammate to help create an actual open shot, not some prayer.

I'd like to see Cook take over the offense when Wade is out or not on his game. It's clear the kid has confidence and ice water running in his veins. Let him loose. Free Eddie House? How about Free Daequan Cook. Luke Jackson should be giving all of his minutes to the rookie at this point. The problem is that this roster is so depleted, Riley is almost forced to let Jackson play.

It's a sad day when Chris Quinn's return is refreshing and you prefer him in the lineup over Jason Williams. At this point it's pretty evident that JWill is going through the motions until the impending day when he is traded out of here. At least he will have a ring with him.

I have to wonder how much more Wade can take of this losing. He didn't take his 4th shot until late into the 3rd quarter. Sometimes I want him to just take over and chuck 30 shots, but then he tries too hard and turns the ball over. Either way, we lose. My only request of him is to not burn himself out this year.

Actually, scratch that. I want him to start working on that 3 point shot. He is often open for that shot and fakes it but then passes to a teammate. Just take it. If you can make a 20 footer consistently, you can make a 23 footer. He will never be the best player in the league if he is only taking 30 3s a season.

Finally, tonight we faced two Bucks who were close to signing with the Heat this offseason. Mo Williams, who rejected Miami's offer in favor of a $20million richer offer from the Bucks, had a very nice game with 25 points and 9 assists. Rumors were he had been bragging about how he played the Heat and never took us seriously, though announcers tonight said he was heading here had the money been equal. Regardless, he would have looked real good on this team.

Charlie Bell, who actually signed an offer sheet with us, unsurprisingly broke out of a recent slump against Miami. We seem to be the solution to everyone's problems.

Zach's Days Numbered?

I'll get to Zach and the LB evaluations by the end of this week, but for now I thought this was an interesting video. Not sure if it's Zach having some fun with the media or if it means he already knows he is on his way out as a Dolphin.

Canes Recruiting News

The past few days have been part of the dead period, so no visits and almost nothing substantial to report on the recruiting front. However, there are lots of bits of news that you should know about.

Patrick Johnson decommitted, which is fine. However, he didn't leave without some controversy. Apparently, PJ decided to spin the story in his favor rather than just take the high road and tell the truth. The way he handled his recruitment has been appalling. He told UNC people he was going there. He told the Noles he was decommitting to them. The same goes for the Gators. He even admitted to enjoying the process of recruiting so he could screw around with certain websites and feed them lies.

He'll finally decide on Saturday at the Army All-American game, and then good riddance. The coaches wanted him to come here, but aren't about to take his crap if he doesn't want to be here. I especially like their attitude: "The first pass we throw against him will go over his head for a touchdown." From what I hear, Jacory Harris would love to be the guy throwing that pass. Here's to seeing that happen one day.

Not to be sour grapes about losing him to LSU or UF, but for all the talk about his talent and how he is 3 and done, I'd wager anyone to find a kid who created this much drama and hoopla and ended up actually panning out. Somebody find me Willie Williams.

His potential replacement in this class is 4/5 star TJ Bryant, depending on which site you go to. Some insiders have him leaning towards UM or even being a Hurricane lock. Others suggest he is looking at LSU, but isn't comfortable with Pelini having left for Nebraska. Personally he seems like another Bobby Bowden special to me. Every year the Noles swoop in a guy at the last second on NSD, especially if they go to Lincoln High School.

Matt Patchan will decide between LSU, UF and Miami on Saturday as well. Honestly I feel if he wanted to be a Cane he would have decided already. I don't see why he would hesitate otherwise. Look for him to sign with LSU. We never get a guy who announces at the All American game.

Marcus Robinson reaffirmed his commitment to Miami this week, after rumors he might be heading elsewhere. The stud LB projects to be moved to DE at some point in his career.

Speaking of defensive ends, we really need to land another one or two in this class. The defensive line is looking really thin at this point. We are still targeting Corey Liuget, and supposedly things are looking better for us at this point. Not sure how Illinois' blowout loss yesterday will affect him.

Aside from him, there is a small glimmer of hope in swaying Moses McCray, who apparently is still committed to FSU despite rumors of his defection to LSU. Finally, we are bringing in 4 star DE Nick Perry from Michigan for a visit right before signing day. We are on his final list of 4 and having him visit last is a plus, but most people expect him to stay home.

Finally, Brandon Harris' destination is still unknown. He plans to announce on National Signing Day between UF, Ohio State, and Miami.

Preliminary NFL Draft Order

The NFL recently released a preliminary draft order that will be finalized after the playoffs and a coin flip between the Falcons, Raiders, and Chiefs. You can find the draft order here.

Of note is the fact all 4 AFC East teams pick in the top 11. Miami picks first of course, followed by the Jets at 6, the Patriots via San Francisco at 7, and Buffalo at 11. We may be able to trade down to the Jets now and offer them Darren McFadden so they assure themselves that the Patriots do not select him. Getting their first two picks and a future 2nd probably would be fair to both teams. At 6, Miami would still have a relatively good shot at landing Jake Long, Chris Long, or Sedrick Ellis.

Also of note is the two Cowboys picks in the 20s. Unfortunately, that doesn't look like enough to trade up to the #1 overall pick. The Cowboys would probably have to trade up to someone else before trading up again to us and offering us a sweeter deal. Best case scenario would be for nobody in the top 5 to be interested in selecting a running back so high, trading down to 5 or 6 and getting the picks for that. Then trade that pick to the Cowboys for their two firsts and change so they could draft McFadden. That would give us two 1sts, 3 or 4 2nds and a pair of 3rds maybe.

Pietrus and other Heat Rumors

Most fans by now probably would rather just see this team tank and get a top flight prospect in the next draft. However, don't count on Pat Riley giving up on the team just yet. Before the February 21st deadline, look for him to try to move just about anyone on this roster to try to salvage what's left of this season.

The top guy mentioned has been Michael Pietrus. He wanted to come to Miami in the offseason and recently hinted at it again by saying he "prefers a city closer to the West Indies". Cough Cough. I used the ESPN trade machine a few days ago after he became eligible for a trade and saw that Smush Parker's contract works well, especially since they need a point guard. However, that story linked above shot down any chance of that. JWill might be more tempting to them, but they don't match contracts and nobody else on the Warriors roster fits the bill.

Jason Williams and Ricky Davis are other guys rumored potentially to get shipped elsewhere. The Mike Bibby/Ron Artest front isn't working too well sadly. Corey Maggette is still a pipe dream. I want no part of Stephon Marbury, unless they plan on buying his contract out. One option might be Eddy Curry, who is playing behind Zach Randolph on the Knicks, and makes as much as Williams does. Curry isn't the most appealing player, but Shaq's effectiveness is constantly in decline and we need a center for this team.

Until something new brews up, everything for now is just speculation. Supposedly Riley is fielding a lot of calls, but nothing has caught his eye. If it were up to me I would love to be able to get Pietrus, Maggette and Curry for some combination of Williams, Davis, Blount, and Parker. It's wishful thinking, but it works well under the trade rules at least. Landing only one of those 3 players would be a start. A lineup of Rose, Wade, Maggette, Haslem, Shaq would do better than what we have now.

Warren Sapp Retiring

The NFL Network has reported that Warren Sapp has told teammates he intends to retire from the NFL. That makes the 2nd former Cane to retire in the past week. Sapp, like Testaverde, began his career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. However, he enjoyed a far more successful career, including a Super Bowl victory in the 2002 season.

Sapp finishes his illustrious career with 573 tackles and just shy of 100 sacks. Having been named to 8 Pro Bowls and having won one defensive player of the year award, Warren is a strong candidate to get into Canton. Probably not in the first ballot, as the 100 sack mark is a nice round number that would have given him a stronger resume. But there's no doubt in my mind that eventually he will join several of his fellow Canes in the Hall of Fame.

Warren's NFL career modeled that of his college career at UM. There, he dominated opposing linemen enough to warrant an All-American selection as well as being selected early in the first round of the 1995 draft. Because of his all-around talents, people will always compare Miami DTs like Vince Wilfork and soon-to-be Marcus Forston to Sapp. High praise indeed, because Sapp will always be recognized as one of the best defenders to play in his time.

Dolphins Hire Ireland, Fire Cam?

EDIT: The Post has reported that this is official. PFT is reporting Cam was fired last night.

Armando Salguero is reporting the Dolphins have pretty much all but hired Jeff Ireland as the new GM. Ireland was previously the GM of the Dallas Cowboys, so its obvious the Big Tuna is bringing in his own people to run the show. Considering the recent resurgence of the Cowboys franchise, I wouldn't mind if he brought as many guys as he wanted.

Up next is probably going to be Tony Sparano, who if hired as the head coach of the Dolphins would be the butt of Sopranos jokes during his entire tenure here. That of course means that Cam Cam is on his way out, after only one season at the helm.

Like I've said before, I'm pretty indifferent towards Cam Cameron. He proved nothing to us as a head coach, but giving a guy only one season is typically a rash thing to do. That being said, if Parcells is more comfortable with the guys that helped build up the Cowboys, then let the man work his magic.

However, I would suggest to Dolfans everywhere to keep a conservative outlook on the future of this team. As well as the Cowboys are playing now, Parcells didn't win a playoff game with them. In fact, the team wasn't all that good until he got lucky and Tony Romo came out of nowhere and provided Dallas with a Pro Bowl quarterback. Without his success, that team is not where it is at today. It's a similar situation to Bill Belichick in New England. If Brady doesn't come in, then how much of a genius is Bill now?

That's not to say either Bill isn't a top flight head coach or evaluator of talent. What I'm saying is that these guys don't exactly have the Midas touch with players and that a little bit of luck at the QB position helped them get over the hump. Therefore, don't expect the Dolphins to rise out of obscurity without a quarterback. Just hope that either John Beck or any potential QB that they bring in during the offseason can be the answer.

Seminoles and Gators Lose Bowl Games

It's been a nice 24 hours in college football for Miami fans. Both of the Canes' in-state rivals fell in their respective bowl games to end the season. Granted, at least they went to bowl games, right?

Anyway, I have to give credit to Florida State for putting up a fight against Kentucky in the Music City Bowl. UK has a talented quarterback and were one of the two teams to top LSU this season, so it was going to be a challenge even before FSU had to play without 30+ players. Even after all the bad press due to the embarrassing academic scandal, the players still went out there and gave it a shot in a bowl game that Florida State traditionally would be ashamed to play in.

The Seminoles are in a tough spot. Like the Canes, they have had a string of disappointing seasons and are looking at a top 5 recruiting class that includes a potential savior at quarterback, EJ Manuel. However, they don't have the stability at the head coaching position. How long is Bobby going to stick around? Who is going to replace him if Jimbo leaves? I'd say at this point Miami has a better chance of getting back to the top in the immediate future than FSU does.

However, I do want FSU to become relevant again. I hate them, but there is a certain respect between players of the programs, and I want to look forward to an October matchup where both teams are in the top 10 and Miami can ruin FSU's season rather than just be one of several losses for the Seminoles.

The Gators also deserve some credit for their performance today, at least offensively. Tebow was pretty much held in check on the ground and seeing him suffer makes me happy. Heisman winners often tend to do poorly in their bowl games, but Tebow's performance was up and down at worst. I've seen other winners do far worse in their games (Troy Smith, Chris Weinke) so he probably shouldn't be too disappointed.

Michigan's offense was simply too much, even when they were fumbling twice inside the 5. In hindsight, the game probably shouldn't have been too close. Instead, Michigan struggled to contain Percy Harvin on defense and had to hold on to win the Capital One Bowl, 41-35.

What I took from this game was a potential blueprint for Miami to beat the Gators next season. Get pressure on Tebow. Make sure you hit the guy and force him to throw bad passes. He is a great player but not the best passing quarterback just yet. Maybe we will spy Allen Bailey on him. As for Harvin, I think his conditioning has to be in question. He was hurt this year and was tired today in the 4th. If you can rough him up and force him to expend lots of energy, you can eliminate him from the game.

In the end though, you still have to outscore Florida. They'll get their points on the board. We need Marve to be effective in getting the ball down the field and scoring touchdowns. Not field goals. Touchdowns. Randy Shannon has almost 9 months to prepare for the biggest game of his coaching career. A loss is unacceptable.

By the way, please don't hesitate to help me out on a quick poll on the right side of the page.

New Year's Resolutions

Quick laundry list...

Miami Dolphins- Draft well. Find yourself an answer at QB and win some games. Get over the 72 season.

Miami Heat- Tank Tank TANK. Get Michael Beasley or Derrick Rose. Buy out Shaquille O'Neal.

Miami Hurricanes- Stop being Tin Man U. I know there are guys on this team that are better than 5-7. Have faith in Shannon, have faith in Haith.

Florida Marlins- Stop being so cheap.

Florida Panthers- Playoffs? PLAYOFFS?!

Evaluation of Offense: Overall

To put it shortly, this offense needs help. Almost everywhere. It would probably be unfair to place the blame on the offense's ineffectiveness on Cam Cameron. The team is lacking in talent thanks to several failed drafts. That being said, with Ronnie Brown in there, the team looks much better. It's funny because usually it is said that an offensive line makes a back look good, but once Ronnie went down for the year, the offensive line ceased to look like a solid unit.

The offense is in need of some upgrades in free agency. Sadly, so is the defense, so there needs to be a balance when trying to improve the roster this offseason. The team is below average in talent at every position except running back. Therefore, we shouldn't be surprised at the lack of success.

For now, I believe we need to entrust the offense to John Beck. We drafted him for a reason, and although Parcells has no attachment to him, it would be foolish to cast him aside as a mistake of the previous regime after only a handful of games. However, If something happens where we can upgrade it immediately, I would go ahead and do that. Like if Donovan McNabb were to get cut for example.

It would be a waste of a 2nd round pick on Beck to bench him, but if there is an upgrade available immediately, then you have to consider that pick a sunk cost. On that note, if that upgrade is Derek Anderson, DO NOT DO IT. Anderson is not worth the #1 overall pick in the draft, no matter how much of an "economic risk" the first pick is.

Pray for the recovery of Ronnie Brown. Regardless of the QB, this team is much better when Ronnie is the featured back. However, the guy throwing the ball for us needs someone to throw it to. Right now, the only two guys I expect back are still raw and would benefit from having a legitimate threat out there to help them get open. Bernard Berrian is a decent WR, but I'm not sure if I would break the bank for him.

What I am interested in is the future of two Pro Bowl receivers that are likely a pipe dream for Dolfans. Randy Moss is a free agent and the Patriots have tended to let high priced guys go. It would be foolish of them to do so though, but we'll see. The second guy is more of a pipe dream, but I've heard rumors that Chad Johnson doesn't want to come back to Cincinnati. There have been whispers about his rocky relationship with fellow Beaver TJ Houshmandzadeh. Finally, I watched every Bengals game this year so I know first hand that there are always chemistry issues with Carson Palmer. Don't expect anything from that though.

Getting a solid tight end should be one of this team's priorities. I don't know if Indy plans on keep Dallas Clark or not. They just spent a lot of money on Bob Sanders, but I doubt Peyton would be too pleased if he lost another weapon on offense. The bad news is that there aren't any Kellen Winslow type tight ends in this draft, though Fred Davis in the 2nd wouldn't be too bad. However, if you want that impact player at tight end, you would have to do just that: select them high and risk not taking a player at a more important position.

The line needs some help, and I'm not sure where they will get it if it's not through the draft. The team has a lot of cap space and surely will have more once they let go of certain guys, but they also have innumerable holes to fill. Therefore, it might be unlikely that they spend a huge amount on any one guy. If Hadnot would demand 30 million dollars, imagine how much anyone of a higher level would ask for.

Overall, I expect the following guys back: John Beck, Ronnie Brown, Lorenzo Booker, Reagan Mauia, Ted Ginn, Derek Hagan, David Martin, Vernon Carey, Samson Satele, Drew Mormino and Anthony Alabi. That's only 11 players out of what should be 25 on offense. Certain guys will be cap casualties, like Marty Booker and LJ Shelton. Others might price themselves off the team, like Jesse Chatman and Rex Hadnot. Cleo Lemon might be back, but if he gets a promise of playing time elsewhere, look for him to go.

It's obvious that the team needs a MAJOR overhaul offensively. The big problem is that is also needs a lot of help defensively as well, which I will get into in the next few days. It's amazing just how bad this roster is when you look at it.

Evaluation of Offense: OL

Finally comes the offensive line.

LT Vernon Carey

Considered to be our best offensive lineman by many, Carey is a bit out of place at left tackle. In college he played some guard because he is simply a better run blocker than he is a pass blocker. If we draft a guy like Jake Long, I would consider moving him back to a more comfortable position.

Verdict: A keeper for sure. He might never make a Pro Bowl, but you could do much worse at left tackle, or any other position on the OL that he might play.

LG Chris Liwienski

A castoff from Arizona, he deserves the same fate this season. At one point he got benched for Lekekekekekekekker.

Verdict: Serviceable backup, but LG is probably the biggest hole on this offensive line.

C Samson Satele

The Wes Welker trade came out as a bounty for the Patriots, but with that 2nd round pick we got a very nice surprise in Samson Satele. I was worried about his run blocking ability having come from a pass-only offense in Hawaii, but Samson has improved over time and should be an anchor on this line for the next decade.

Verdict: Probably the best pick of the 2007 Draft for us so far.

RG Rex Hadnot

Those who don't think Carey is our best offensive lineman are on the Hadnot bandwagon. Personally, I've never been a fan of his. I don't see what others do when they rave about his mean streak and his blocking ability. He isn't bad though. An upgrade is possible, but not a priority.

Verdict: I would like him back, but the high opinion of his abilities will probably price him out of Miami. Considering last year's market for offensive lineman, Hadnot will demand a salary he is not worthy of.

RT LJ Shelton

I think the LJ Shelton experiment is about over. He isn't an awful offensive lineman, but we can certainly do better at tackle. The pass blocking deteriorated towards the end of the year and he was partly to blame.

Verdict: He makes 3 million next year so expect him to get the ax.

T Anthony Alabi

A mystery on this roster. Coaches keep praising him, as do players, but yet he never gets on the field. When he does, he is terrible. He was taken as a project in the later rounds and it doesn't look like it has worked out.

Verdict: He might stick around because he is cheap and it becomes cumbersome to overhaul an entire roster at once.

G/C Drew Mormino

He expected to get a chance to start at LG before getting hurt and being placed on injured reserve. Look for him to get a chance again if we don't find a good guard in free agency or in the draft.

Verdict: Deserves another look next season but might find himself backing up a left guard or Samson Satele. Don't rule him out as a starter if Hadnot leaves in free agency.

G/T Joe Toledo

The red flag on him coming out of college was that he was injury prone and so far that has been the case. The 4th round project has failed miserably at staying healthy, having been placed on IR both years he was here.

Verdict: It's a shame because supposedly when he is on the field, he is effective. However, I don't want brittle guys on my roster if I am Bill Parcells. He might end up a casualty of the purge if the front office doesn't think he is worth the risk.

G Cory Lekkerkerker

I don't know if it is harder to pronounce his name or to evaluate him. He was brought in later in the season off the Chargers roster, thanks to his familiarity with Cameron's system. When placed in the starting lineup though, the entire line began to break down, though not necessarily because of him.

Verdict: The poor line play towards the end of the year might spell doom for him, but again, he is a borderline call here. The staff might choose to keep him and cut Toledo.

Evaluation of Offense: TEs and FBs

Next comes a disappointing bunch: the tight ends and fullbacks.

David Martin

Besides being made of paper mache, David hasn't been newsworthy this season at tight end. A free agent acquisition from Green Bay, he was an average tight end there and probably didn't even live up to the average expectations we had for him. It was a burden on the quarterbacks to not have that TE safety valve.

Verdict: He signed a 3 year, 3.5M dollar contract with us, so keeping him around wouldn't be overly expensive. However, he is nothing more than a backup.

Justin Peelle

Peelle had his moments, but they were few. He contributed to the lack of a tight end threat from the offense this season. Had a few drops as well. Probably played on the same level as David Martin, though he makes more and is a backup.

Verdict: As a backup I wouldn't mind keeping him. However, he makes about 1.5M next season and that's way too much for someone who doesn't really produce.

Aaron Haltermann

Don't know much about him. My guess is that he is gone as well, unless the people in charge feel like it's too much to go around replacing everybody.

Reagan Mauia

The Juggernaut didn't really do much this season. I like to see a fullback who is part of the offense, catching passes in the flats and running dives in for TDs. He wasn't really used in that regards too often. However, he is just a rookie and a mammoth of a man. His blocking will improve over time.

Verdict: Still young and a worthy investment for the future.
