McCray Decommits and Other News

For those who follow Canes football recruiting, recently heralded LB recruit Lerentee McCray dropped his commitment to the University of Miami. Having followed recruiting closely this year, nobody really expected it to stick even when he committed a few months ago. McCray plays in what is usually a Gator pipeline area, however the rumors are that the coaching staff at UM preempted his leaving by yanking his scholarship offer. Supposedly, he was warned to stop taking his visits (a warning he did not heed), and seeing as how we have a boatload of LB commits at the time, he was seen as an expendable player.

I'm not terribly disappointed; though for me, the more the merrier when it comes to HS recruiting. You just never know. In other news, the Patrick Johnson saga continues as now his commitment is wavering for any number of reasons including grades, test scores, or a rumored bidding war between UNC and UF. Who knows whats going on behind the scenes. Either way, theres not much that can be done but trust the young man knows what he is doing.
