The big game is only 3 hours away. Soon we will find out if the Patriots can finish their tainted season undefeated or if the Giants can pull off one of the biggest upsets in championship history.
The hoopla surrounding the game has been enormous, and rightfully so. Rarely does a Super Bowl deserve the hype it gets. I mean, who really cared about the Pittsburgh/Seattle game 2 years ago? This game, however, means a whole lot to a whole lot of people. It means even more now with the emerging controversy regarding the Patriots first Super Bowl win 6 years ago.
If it's true that the Patriots videotaped the Rams before the title game and then benefited in any way, then the entire Patriots dynasty is tarnished. They will be branded cheaters forever. I'm not entirely sure that they could have their championships stripped even if they were to be found guilty, but in the minds of the fans they would no longer be the team of the decade.
However, for all we know, it was the coaching staff doing it all without the players' knowledge. If that were the case, I suppose I would feel sorry for the few Patriots I could ever muster respect for (and it's a small number at this point). Regardless, New England will have to overcome the scrutiny and beat a New York team that resembles a team of destiny.
My heart says New York. It really does, and not just as a Dolphins fan. They have that "it" factor, they've won 10+ straight on the road, and they played the Patriots tough in a game that meant nothing to them. And apparently, Eli Manning switched bodies with Peyton somewhere along the line.
However, sometimes the heart can misguide you into convincing yourself about something that really isn't true. We can't overlook the simple fact the Patriots are head and shoulders above the rest of the NFL. They are that good. I think it's a blowout. 38-13.
