You might have heard about a few position changes on the UM football team. I'll go over them one by one here.
Luqman Abdallah was moved to offensive line, which is an interesting move. We are already pretty thin at DT, but I suppose with 2 more guys coming in this summer (Regis and Lewis), Abdallah was considered expendable at the position. The guy hasn't really shown all that much yet, but then again he wasn't the most heralded recruit either. It should be interesting to see if he can contribute to our line, which supposedly is looking pretty solid right now.
The Ryan Hill move is one I am grateful for. I personally thought it should have been done last year. Hill hasn't shown any promise at WR and we are hurting pretty bad at corner. The addition of Brandon Harris was crucial, but it should help to have some depth at the position. Hill is a great athlete and should he pick up the defense quickly enough, could contribute. He is probably better off because he wasn't going to see the field with this new stable of WRs coming in from the 2008 class.
As for Damien Berry being moved to running back, that is one move that baffled me. We have a great backfield right now in James, Coopers, McNeal and Chambers. I have no idea when Berry will get a carry. He ran the ball some in high school, but still this is a surprising move considering the fact we don't have a proven safety yet. Reddick should lock down one spot eventually. JoJo looks great in practice, and Ponder will probably get considerable playing time. Still, Berry was looking to contribute more at safety than at RB. Oh well.
