A pair of the rumors we've heard in recent weeks regarding the Miami Dolphins and their quest for improvement have been associated with Romeo Crennel and Derek Anderson of the Cleveland Browns.
Crennel has been tabbed as a potential target of Bill Parcells as the next coach of the Dolphins. Crennel is a Parcells guy and had success running the Patriots defense before taking a mediocre Cleveland team to the brink of the playoffs this year. He denied the reports at the time, and now it appears that he is likely to stay with Cleveland and receive a contract extension.
In addition, it was suggested that Miami might consider Derek Anderson as a potential staring QB for next season. Cleveland invested a lot into Brady Quinn as being the future of that team, so there were rumors that either they would place the highest tender on Anderson, a restricted free agent, or trade him to the highest bidder. My reaction to those rumors was to pray that we wouldn't be foolish enough to trade the #1 overall pick for a QB who while effective, is not a franchise quarterback.
Instead of having to deal with either situation (Crennel is overrated, he was about to get canned last season before they made their recent turnaround), reports are that both Crennel and Anderson are looking like they will be Browns for quite some time.
