With a month to go before National Signing Day, here are the kids who should be here this weekend to start spring semester and enroll early at Miami:
Jordan Futch, Jacory Harris, Sean Spence, Marcus Forston, Cannon Smith, Joe Wylie, Jake Wieclaw, John Calhoun, Patrick Hill, Arthur Brown and Aldarius Johnson.
Futch will eventually fight for time at OLB. Spence and Harris both need to put on weight to contribute anytime soon, but are studs at their respective positions. Forston is a monster and might start Day 1 opposite Antonio Dixon. Wieclaw could potentially be the starting kicker and Patrick Hill should look to start at FB. Arthur Brown and Aldarius Johnson are magnificent talents at positions that are sorely lacking in depth right now. Calhoun, Wylie and Smith probably won't play much anytime soon, but are still quality prospects.
As far as guys who aren't commits yet, there is still nothing new. Corey Liuget is still between Illinois and Miami. DE Nick Perry is probably going to Michigan. We are targeting FSU commits Keith Wells and Markus White at DE, but it is always tough to sway these guys.
Aside from that, the coaching staff is really targeting Brandon Harris and TJ Bryant at cornerback. Both are 4/5 star recruits and are key to this class now that Patrick Johnson is going to LSU. And with Patchan being a Gator, we are the likely destination for MNW OL/DL Benjamin Jones.
Word is Tommy Street may or may not have missed the boat with the Canes. We are still trying to land Martavious Odoms or Laron Byrd at WR. Only one of the three will get a chance to be a Cane. Odoms is a speedster and Laron is a big 6-3 210 pound receiver with 4.5 speed who visits right before signing day.
Finally, what should be interesting is the Pete Carroll situation with Atlanta. Some reports have him being very interested in the position; others have him not being interested at all. If he does leave, expect there to be available prospects who have committed to USC.
