Mike Tice: Potential Choice?

A friend mentioned a rumor a few weeks back that Mike Tice might be an option for the Dolphins in the search for a head coach. I ridiculed the notion, even though Tice had Parcells ties.

Apparently there is some truth to the rumor. A few days ago it was reported that Tice fully expected to get the job, despite the fact Sparano is widely considered to basically have all but signed on the dotted line.

Now, reports are that he will be in tomorrow to interview for the vacant position.

Honestly, I still can't see it. Tice's teams in Minnesota weren't exactly world-beaters, and the Love Boat incident doesn't shed a good light on him. Parcells after all, has stated he wants good character guys. Not sure if this standard is extended to the coaching staff.

My take is that the Dolphins might be checking on all possibilities just to cover all their bases. Or perhaps they are aware of the potential investigation that might come about from the Leslie Frazier "interview" and are bringing in more candidates to suggest that Sparano hasn't been handed the job yet.
