The Marlins continue the facade of actually trying to field a major league team. It appears the team is speaking to Luis Gonzalez about filling in a backup role at either left field or first base.
The 40-year-old has been past his prime for a while. He does have the experience needed to help mentor the young guys though. His influence should be a plus for this team if they manage to sign him.
Gonzalez is best known for his 2001 season in which he hit 57 home runs, made the All-Star team and then won the World Series with a clutch hit off of Mariano Rivera in Game 7.

It will be a welcome additon to the Marlins, but I don't see Luis Gonzalez taking a huge salary cut from his 7.1 million 2007 salary.
